Arts Under The Dome is the long-running concert series offered by First United Methodist Church in downtown Gulfport. The series was started in 1992 by Martha Mayeu and Pat Schott as an outreach to our community. Our mission is to present first class artists that folks here may not otherwise have the opportunity to see, and to present them for a reasonable ticket price and in a beautiful setting – under the stained glass dome in the First United Methodist Church sanctuary. Our performers all tour nationally and/or internationally, and most of them have never been invited to perform in Mississippi. They are quick to get rid of any pre-conceived ideas about Mississippi by the time they leave our area! They may not all be familiar names to you, but they are generally prominent artists in the music world who are happy to be here and share their music in an intimate setting to an appreciative audience.
Entertainment, education and enrichment – you’ll get all this at an Arts Under The Dome concert. We value the power of the arts to impact the lives of all people, and especially to transform and influence the lives of young people. Arts Under The Dome is eclectic. We are broad-minded about the kinds of music we present, but narrow-minded when it comes to quality. If you’ve never been to one of our concerts, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
